Tesseract lunges late to win feature under inspired Geraghty ride

While Barry Geraghty's commitments as JP McManus' retained rider may not see him required at Wexford all that often, racegoers at the sunny south-east venue were left wanting more as the leading rider treated them to a spectacular display of horsemanship to win on Tesseract in the feature 2m4f handicap chase.

Not for the first time in his career Joseph O'Brien's three-time bumper winner did not display the most efficient of jumping techniques, but Geraghty was able to coax his mount into contention and delivered his final challenge in the shadows of the post to deny Full Cry in a photo.

Geraghty said of the 125-rated chaser: "His jumping is sloppy and he makes plenty of mistakes, like at Galway last time, but he battled and jumped the last two well – we were all out to beat Full Cry."
