Arena Racing Company held its Cheltenham party on Wednesday evening, when it was good to see former director of racing Jim Allen among the guests.

Allen was looking very tanned and healthy, not surprisingly given he is training in Florida, where his string includes the former Hugo Palmer inmate Spanish Squeeze.

His operation is based at home rather than at the track and throws up different challenges to what Allen has experienced in Britain, with the local wildlife including rattlesnakes, black widow spiders and the slightly less unpleasant brown widow spider.
