Tamreer's 33-1 win in the opening Sky Bet Handicap came as a welcome surprise to owners Arcane Racing Partnership, given their locality to the Knavesmire.

The daughter of New Approach was bought for only 8,000gns at last year's Tattersalls December Mares Sale and the winner's prize-money of £43,575 meant that decision has paid off in style.

Tamreer had shown classy form previously, including third in the Listed Pontefract Castle Fillies' Stakes in June, but was lining up in a traditionally competitive and tough handicap.
