Tamarillo Grove takes centre stage again at Newton Abbot with eighth win

The biggest roar of the afternoon at Newton Abbot was reserved for course specialist Tamarillo Grove, who proved age is but a number when recording an eighth victory at the track aged 12.

A winner at the course last month as well, Tamarillo Grove handled a rise in class and 8lb hike in the handicap to defeat Passing Call by three-quarters of a length.

Winning trainer Sophie Leech said: "He's a complete legend. He's amazing and did it ugly today. Last time he did it quite smoothly but he still got the job done and we're absolutely thrilled.
