Tajaanus's star shines after missing royal appointment

Missing Royal Ascot takes some strength of character, but it has paid dividends for the team behind Tajaanus after the filly rewarded them by stepping up to Listed success in the day's feature.

The Star Stakes, sponsored by Longines, looked a classy affair with the unbeaten Cape Bunting and Capomento in the ten-strong field, but Tajaanus squeezed home from Capomento in a thriller.

Winning owner Hamdan Al Maktoum's team and trainer Richard Hannon had resisted the temptation of the royal meeting but are now looking for Group success, possibly at Goodwood or Salisbury.
