Santiago has St Leger winner written all over him.

The reason that stamina test at Doncaster will play to his strengths is because he relaxes so well in his races. Just as was the case in the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot eight days ago, Santiago settled beautifully and went to sleep for the first half of the Irish Derby under Seamie Heffernan.

The winning of the race was the move Heffernan made on the home turn and he had a willing partner who did not need to be asked twice. The biggest price he traded in running was 4.3 and that tells its own story.
