Stradivarius tunes up for date at Scottish National meeting with game win

Paul Nicholls cast-off Stradivarius Davis came good on his second start for the Sandy Thomson stable when accounting for some better-fancied rivals in the 3m1f novice chase.

Much of the pre-race chat was about recent Newbury winner Django Django but the 8-11 favourite never landed a blow behind the 9-1 chance, who was easy to back.

Unsurprisingly given he was stepping up from just over two miles, Grand National-winning jockey Ryan Mania rode a waiting race on the winner before going on in the home straight to deny Coole Hall.
