Stormy Ireland shines in the sun with all-the-way success
A fall in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham and an unseat in the Champion Four Year Old Hurdle at Punchestown had thrown a couple of unwanted spanners in the works of Stormy Ireland's season and perhaps Willie Mullins might have been pleased enough had she put in a clear round in the Listed Killarney Oils Mares Hurdle.
Had there been any crisis of confidence with the filly's jumping, she showed none of it on the opening day of this year's May festival, going out in front and jumping brilliantly for Danny Mullins as she effortlessly took the scalp of stablemate Good Thyne Tara by seven lengths, with the 1-2-3 for Mullins completed by favourite Lagostovegas finishing a disappointing third.
Mullins said: "That was nice compensation for Cheltenham and Punchestown, so it's good to get her back on the board with a bracket.
