Stoney Mountain gave trainer Henry Daly his biggest success for six years after landing the Grade 3 Stayers' Handicap Hurdle at Haydock.

The last two winners of the race went on to win Grade 1 hurdle races in the same season, Paisley Park last season and Sam Spinner in 2017, but chasing beckons for Stoney Mountain.

On first inspection it looked as if Daly might have a staying hurdler in the mould of his Grade 1 winner Mighty Man, but owner-breeder Trevor Hemmings is always on the lookout for his next top-class chasing prospect.
