Stewards inquire after Tiger Roll slumps to 92-length defeat in Bowl

Having been at the centre of jubilation on his previous two visits to Aintree, Tiger Roll was at the centre of a stewards' inquiry after trailing home a well-beaten fourth in Thursday's Betway Bowl.

Officials asked Jack Kennedy to talk them through the ride he had given Tiger Roll, who was initially prominent but soon drifted back through the field and was hardly sighted by television viewers for the last mile, but the jockey insisted he could have done no more.

A stewards' report on the BHA website, posted shortly before 6pm, said Tiger Roll "appeared to be tenderly handled throughout". Kennedy told them his horse "was never really travelling, due to the fast early pace", which he had already reported on returning to the weighing room.
