It was no surprise that the James Fanshawe-trained filly Always Summer would appreciate the step up to two miles. By the American sire Flatter, who is an influence for stamina, she is out of an unraced half-sister to 1998 Prix du Cadran winner Invermark.

Results and analysis

Stay she did, for coming from off the pace she drew right away in the last two furlongs to beat another staying sort, the Sir Mark Prescott-trained Alsacienne, by four lengths, the pair finishing six lengths clear of the remainder.
