Two-time champion jockey Jamie Spencer was the latest to give the relaid track on the North Denes the thumbs-up after his first double at the course since its refurbishment.

After steering the gambled-on Pacharana home in the 1m2f handicap on the round course for Luca Cumani, Spencer showed he was just as effective up the straight when Fang proved too sharp for his rivals in the 6f handicap.

He said: "It's like a snooker table out there now and you could run a nice horse here no problem. It's like a completely different track and reminds me of how it was 15 years ago.
