Speciosa's legacy lives on with victorious Vernatti

With Guineas weekend looming large, Vernatti was a fitting winner of the 1m2f handicap.

Out of Pam Sly's 2006 1,000 Guineas winner Speciosa, Vernatti was a ready winner on her handicap debut, comfortably scoring when in the clear by two and a quarter lengths under Rob Hornby.

Trained by Sly, the three-year-old has her own ideas about the game, as she took a long time to pull up, but Sly said: "I think she's all right, it's just taken a while to get her organised."
