French filly Spain Burg landed a 14-1 triumph in the Shadwell Rockfel Stakes to set up a return trip across the channel for the Qipco 1,000 Guineas next season.
The Group 2 juvenile feature has not hosted a subsequent Classic winner since Finsceal Beo in 2006 but there was no fluke about the way Spain Burg lowered the colours of 4-9 shot Fair Eva. She was given opening quotes of between 10-1 and 20-1 for the first fillies' Classic of 2017.
