Up-and-coming apprentice Seb Woods has a hard act to follow living in the shadow of his father Wendyll, but is gradually learning the ropes and hopes to better him one day.

The 18-year-old partnered his first winner at the track, and eighth in total, when giving Fibresand first-timer Sonnet Rose a polished ride in division two of the mile maiden handicap.

Although most of his family are based in Newmarket, Woods is apprenticed to Richard Fahey at rival training centre Malton, although there was a HQ connection as the winner is trained in Suffolk by Conrad Allen.
