Skint is perhaps not the most apt name for a racehorse but he rolled back the years to take the 2m5½f handicap chase when making much of the running to score convincingly on his first start for new trainer Michael Scudamore.

Apart from an error at the third-last fence, the 11-year-old, who had not been in the winner’s circle since July 2014, jumped well for Scudamore’s jockey brother Tom to readily hold off Bobonyx to collect.

The trainer said: “He came to us in the summer after losing his way a little bit and he's a horse who has his quirks but a change of scenery seems to have done the trick. He was well handicapped on his old form but that is almost three years ago and he had to show a lot more than he had been.
