Size no problem as little Eminent Poet battles his way to seventh hurdles win

Size matters, or does it? Not to Eminent Poet it doesn't, as although he was dwarfed by his four rivals in the £18,500 3m handicap hurdle he still beat them to win his seventh race over hurdles.

Ridden by Charlie Deutsch, he is trained by Venetia Williams, and his owner Brian Dice said: "He isn't very big but he keeps going. I had one called Effectual who was a similar build and he just kept going, taking three strides to everyone else's one, and he was fourth in the Stayers' Hurdle.

"I don't think we'll send him over fences, he'll be too small, but we might school him and see."
