Saeed Bin Suroor may not be having the greatest of seasons but you can always rely on him in the William Hill Doonside Cup – even first time out.

Secret Number had been off the track for ten months, unraced since finishing second at Flemington Park in Australia, and was running over 1m2f for the first time in more than three years.

Yet his trainer had won this Listed event four times in the past seven years, and the six-year-old gave him a sixth victory in total – if you include Sky Hunter's win in 2014 before being disqualified for testing positive for a prohibited substance – scoring by an authoritative length and three-quarters under Danny Tudhope.
