Siskin proves stamina is no issue and looks an ideal Sussex Stakes candidate

We may be only one week into the restarted Irish Flat campaign, but the 2020 ride of the season award has surely already been decided with Colin Keane's outstandingly cool performance on Siskin in the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas.

This was a fascinating tactical battle in which the former champion jockey had plenty of adversity thrown at him, but he never panicked and didn't have to get hugely serious with a high-class colt, who was prepared brilliantly by Ger Lyons to land a first Classic.

The major question coming into this assignment was whether he would stay the mile, having raced exclusively over 6f last year, and he answered that convincingly.
