There's much to be said for keeping it simple, whether you are a punter or a jockey, and it certainly paid off with Darkanna.

The clear form choice on the back of her fifth-place finish in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes was sent off the 4-1 favourite, a very reasonable price considering the level of form she has shown, and jockey Barry McHugh stuck to basics with the straightforward filly, riding her handily before going for home two furlongs out.

He always looked set to give trainer Richard Fahey an overdue first success in the £175,000, 23-runner contest and Darkanna provided another winner for the Cool Silk partnership, whose Sands Chorus was second in the Cambridgeshire last weekend.
