Morando got champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa back in the winning habit in some style at Ascot on his fourth ride since injuring his neck and shoulder in a fall at Chelmsford in August.

The partnership won the Cumberland Lodge by six lengths as the King Power Racing-owned gelding relished the soft ground as he had when winning the Ormonde Stakes at Chester in May.

De Sousa, handing over his crown to Oisin Murphy in two weeks before heading off for another winter stint in Hong Kong next month, made it a double when Di Fede won the 7f Listed race for the second year running to take her rider to 94 winners for the year.
