Theresa May has any number of reasons to find life rather stressful at the moment but she can take solace from the fact someone else has to worry about Singlefarmpayment.

Given how much he seems to think during the closing stages of his races, it is entirely possible the horse – named after a plank of the EU's agricultural policy – could be reading these very words.

It's important to stress there are many reasons why it must be lovely to be associated with him, not least the fact he invariably gives his connections a run for their money and earns a not inconsiderable amount of cash. The problem is it's a long time since any of that cash came in the form of win prize-money, which one of the sport's most frustrating performers once again found a way of avoiding on his latest visit to Cheltenham.
