It may only be September but Adam Short underlined his claims for conditional championship glory this season with a fine chase double on students' day at Sligo aboard Justmemyselfandi and Shanklys Dawn.

The County Wicklow native, who prides himself on keeping busy and rides for as many as four and sometimes five different trainers every morning, brought his tally for the season to 11.

His first win was secured in dramatic fashion. After attempting to make all aboard Liz Doyle’s Justmemyselfandi in the 3m½f chase, Short looked booked for second when passed by Major Destination jumping the last.
