'She's brilliant' - Saffie Osborne bags first Group win aboard Random Harvest
Sunday: San Siro, Milan
Ed Walker was full of praise for Saffie Osborne after she guided Random Harvest to a first Group win for both horse and jockey in the Premio Elena e Sergio Cumani.
The four-year-old filly led from start to finish under Osborne, going clear in the final furlong to win by an eased-down length and three-quarters.
Walker said: "Saffie has got on extremely well with this filly and Lady Bamford is a big believer in these fillies having a bit of consistency with their jockeys and I certainly don’t disagree.
"Saffie has come very close in a number of stakes races for me over here and I’m absolutely thrilled that she’s won one, which is a huge achievement for her. She’s a brilliant young talent."
On the race plan Walker added: "I said to her, I don’t know the track, I don’t know the opposition and you know Random Harvest better than I do, so who am I to tell you what to do. Just do what you think is best.
"For her to go and make the running was an incredibly brave and brilliant decision. Less confident jockeys might have taken a lead, but Saffie popped out and backed her own judgement and totally nailed it."
