Sheer Intensity finally gets her head in front for Evans

Sheer Intensity came into the first division of the mile handicap a model of consistency, but with eight places from 20 runs connections must have been wondering how long it was going to take to get her head in front.

However, under a well-judged ride by John Egan – who was on board more by accident than design – she forged clear of pacesetting duo World Record and Ettie Hart to run out a winner by one and three-quarter lengths.

Egan said: "She's done it really well. Hopefully she can go and win again now she's got her head in front."
