Welsh rider Jodie Hughes was the toast of a wintry Limerick on Friday afternoon as she proved best in the challenge handicap hurdle between Irish and British amateurs, landing it decisively on the Shark Hanlon-trained outsider Secrets Safeand concluding a good 24 hours for the Carlow trainer.

Hanlon had saddled the impressive Linger to land a juvenile hurdle at Market Rasen the previous day. This was more bread and butter but the son of Arcano was apparently putting some disappointing efforts behind him in landing this.
