Shamreen continued Dermot Weld's resurgence after a quiet season by his standards when proving much too good for her four rivals in the Group 3 Qatar Airways Royal Whip Stakes.

The Aga Khan-owned four-year-old, with the testing ground she relishes, won easily by three and a quarter lengths under Pat Smullen.

The jockey said: "Ground is the key to Shamreen. It mightn't have been a very strong race but she impressed me and won like a good filly."
