Al Kazeem showered Group 1 honours on Roger Charlton’s yard and his son took a sizeable step towards beginning to emulate his father with victory in the Cocked Hat Stakes.

Aspetar earned a 20-1 quote from the sponsor for the William Hill St Leger after his success in the Listed contest that 39 years ago was won by subsequent Derby winner Troy.

But Royal Ascot is likely to be off the agenda for the unbeaten Aspetar, who has an entry in the King Edward VII Stakes but needs ease in the ground, which he is more likely to get at Doncaster in September.
