SOUTH SEAS might have had his second start delayed but the Andrew Balding-trained juvenile picked up where he left off at Windsor with another comfortable success.

Having justified good support to win by eight lengths on debut, the vibes were strong again with the Qatar Racing colt's odds shortening to 1-5 (from 8-15) for the 6f novice stakes, which became the plan after a crack at last week's Group 2 Superlative Stakes was aborted.

"It might have been a blessing that the ground at Newmarket was quick as he's a work in progress, but it's always nice to see a horse laid back and switched off on his second start," said Kevin Darley, northern representative for the winning owners.
