Sapphire shows she's no plodder as Police force cop the lot

Miss Sapphire's victory in the 2m4f mares maiden hurdle was a popular one with Ireland's police force, An Garda Siochana, 123 of whose members form the Blue Blood Racing Club, owners of the Willie Mullins-trained five-year-old.

Bred by Mags Mullins, from whom the owners have leased the daughter of Flemensfirth, and ridden by her son Danny, Miss Sapphire scored by a length and a half.

James Fenton, spokesman for the owners, said: "We've had a few with Willie and that's our fifth win. Miss Sapphire won a bumper and we think she's a good mare.
