Bargain hunt. That was the storyline as winner after winner suddenly looked cheaply bought as they shone under the floodlights.

First up it was Monologue who continued the hot streak of trainer Simon Hodgson, who was sending out a second Flat winner to go with two chase wins and a hurdle in the last six weeks after a barren 2016 under both codes.

Monologue was bought at Ascot last summer for 5,000gns by his owner Chris Weare from Godolphin having been trained by Andre Fabre with one last-place finish to his name.
