Three of his five starts have been at Chester, including a victory at the May meeting, but in Gabrial The Saint Marwan Koukash could have a horse who has a lot to offer away from the Roodee following a convincing win in the £20,000 handicap.

He had already been put up 8lb for winning on his handicap debut, and yet another, perhaps steeper, rise could follow after he blew away a competitive field when beating Elnadim Star – who had won three out of four – by three lengths.

Gabrial The Saint could now have York's £100,000 Pavers Foundation Catherine Memorial Sprint, a 0-105 handicap for three-year-olds only, as his next objective after his second victory under Paul Hanagan.
