Heartache is always just around the corner in jump racing, no matter how high you climb.

Colin Tizzard hosted his first charity open day on Monday and was able to show off Cheltenham Gold Cup hopes Cue Card and Thistlecrack among a very powerful string.

But 48 hours later there was a reminder of the darker side of the sport as he sent two runners on 189-mile trip from Dorset to Southwell.
