Rufus King gave trainer Mark Johnston his second successive win in the 6f juvenile conditions race when romping home by six lengths on only his second start, but what he achieved is impossible to say for the event contained more drama than an average Shakespeare play.

It all began at the start when the newcomer Squirrelheed became upset in the stalls, had to be taken out and was then withdrawn.

Shortly afterwards Jasi, one of two runners in the race from the Richard Fahey yard, was also withdrawn as he had become upset during the delay and would not go into the starting stalls.
