All roads lead to Royal Ascot for Get Ahead after the Clive Cox-trained juvenile produced an exceptional turn of foot to run out a convincing winner of the 5f fillies' maiden.

The 200,000gns two-year-old picked up takingly under Adam Kirby and is already as short as 12-1 for the Queen Mary Stakes in June.

Cox said: "We're really pleased with her. It was a very impressive debut run and she's a nicely bred filly, so hopefully she can continue to progress.

"It's eyes on the Queen Mary now, it was good to come and get some experience on the track ahead of time. All being well, that's where she'll go.

"She had a very pleasing attitude first time out and we've set off well this season, especially with the fillies."

Cox has found success in the past in the Queen Mary, notably with Heartache's victory in 2017. The following year, Cox won the same 5f maiden with Shades Of Blue, who went on to finish third in the Group 2 contest at Royal Ascot.

Stowell makes amends

Stowell, who was in the news for all the wrong reasons after his Lingfield debut, claimed his first success in the 1m4f maiden.

The John and Thady Gosden-trained three-year-old finished a narrow second on his first start, after which jockey Robert Havlin was handed a 21-day ban for failing to ensure the colt obtained his best possible placing.

With Havlin serving his suspension, Martin Harley proved a capable replacement and nudged the 4-9 favourite out for a two-and-a-quarter-length success.
