Royal Ascot 'on the cards' for impressive debut scorer Absolutelyflawless
Sunday: Southwell
Royal Ascot is on the cards for impressive novice winner Absolutelyflawless after she overcame a tardy start to win on her debut.
The two-year-old was slowly into stride and had to overcome a crowded passage but ran on to score comfortably under Laura Pearson.
Owner Dave Lowe said: "That's superb, considering everything that went on. We knew she had ability and we knew we had a chance in that race but everything went wrong.
"She showed her quality and came through in the end there like a good'un, I couldn’t be more pleased.
"It looked a quality maiden. There was a horse who had won before and Archie Watson thought a lot about his I'd heard, so it wasn’t a weak race by any stretch."
Dave Loughnane’s runner had fetched 78,000gns at the Tattersalls October Book 1 sale last autumn and showed she was well worth it while leaving her owner mulling a possible tilt at the royal meeting.
Lowe said: "She’s got a big frame to grow into yet, she’s very straightforward, we knew she was one of the better fillies that Dave’s got.
"She works with my Commander Straker [finished second at Newbury on Sunday] and we knew that if he turned up then this one would as well.
"Dave mentioned Royal Ascot to me straight away after Commander Straker ran so well, so it’s definitely on the cards."
Carroll at the double
Tony Carroll sent two runners to the track and came away with a 75-1 double.
Carroll took the opener when 18-1 shot Forbearing made all under Hollie Doyle, while a game performance from Della Mare, who held on by a neck under Jason Watson, ensured it was a good day for the Worcestershire trainer.
