Tuesday: Sandown

Major Charlie O'Shea notched his first success in the Grand Military Gold Cup as favourite Rolling Dylan scored for trainer Philip Hobbs.

O'Shea had already enjoyed a winning experience on the 11-year-old, who was coming into the contest on the back of success in the Royal Artillery Gold Cup over course and distance last month.

Rolling Dylan led for the majority of the race, going clear by 15 lengths at one point, but was pushed until the end by the Nicky Henderson-trained Ballycross.

"It's fantastic to have gone on and won the two races, and he performed just as well as he did last time," said Hobbs.

"He jumped great and although it might not have been the most competitive races, it was a good opportunity for the old fella. He's experienced and he's a very slick jumper which everybody could see and he's been brilliant.

"This has given the horse a great opportunity at a prestigious prize and it's also great for Charlie O'Shea."

Privatory lands on debut

Privatory hit the ground running on debut in Britain when making all to land the 2m novice hurdle for Gary Moore. The four-year-old was making only his second career appearance, having previously won in France in December.

Despite being unbeaten, Moore knows that improvement will be required.

"I wouldn't get too carried away with it," Moore said. "He's done it nicely, he was getting away from a horse who's only rated 117 but as long as he improves, and he'll need to, he'll be a nice horse to have."

The trainer added: "A sharp two miles would suit him better I think. I'll see what sort of handicap mark he'll get, but the obvious races are those handicaps at Ascot, Newbury or back here. If he comes out of this good then we would chuck him in at Aintree."

Doukarov maintains form

The Sean Curran-trained Doukarov powered to victory in the 1m7½f handicap chase, giving Jack Wildman his first success since November.
