Trainer Sarah Humphrey was happy to be back on the "right track" after a trying summer as Brecon Hill gave her West Wratting yard a first winner of the year with an authoritative success in the 2m novice hurdle.

Humphrey drew stumps through the summer with sickness in the yard but there have been clear signs of a recovery this month and Brecon Hill confirmed that with a 14-1 success under a no-nonsense Sean Bowen ride.

"We closed down the whole yard as we had a horrible bug," said Humphrey. "We shut down and did very little over the summer – the only good thing is the ground was so hard anyway and we’ve got some nice horses at home waiting for proper heavy, winter ground."
