Rock On Rocky lands knockout blow to give in-form Sheppard another win
Not even the afternoon rain could dampen the celebrations after Rock On Rocky stayed on in very willing fashion to land the feature 2m handicap chase for in-form Matt Sheppard and enhance the trainer's strike-rate to an impressive 75 per cent in the last fortnight.
Ledbury-based Sheppard has only 11 horses in his care at present but has now sent out ten winners this term and amassed £115,000 in prize-money. Rock On Rocky's joint-owner Jan Johnson proved a more than adequate cheerleader for the trainer.
She said: “I cannot understand why Matt does not get more horses as he is a very able trainer. He does very well with those already in his care and with better horses to train who knows where he might end? His son Stan rides very well too.
