Kourkan narrowly denied Robin Of Navan a winning return to France in the Listed Prix le Fabuleux at Maisons-Laffitte on Friday – but last season’s Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner produced a far more convincing performance than when only fifth at Newbury behind Algometer on his previous start.

“That was much improved and it’s lovely to see him travel so well,” said Christina Dunlop, representing trainer-husband Harry.
