Deflated one day, delirious the next. The best way to treat a stinging Samcro hangover is to take one of the big races at Leopardstown's Christmas festival the following day, and that is exactly what Jack Kennedy and Gordon Elliott did with Roaring Bull.

The Paddy Power Chase is always one of the hottest handicaps of the season and this year's edition was as dramatic as any as Fitzhenry somehow snatched defeat from the jaws of victory under Barry Geraghty after touching a low of 1.05 on Betfair.

The fact that Roaring Bull traded at a high of 199-1 in running gives you an idea of how unlikely victory looked for the six-year-old, who was only tenth in the Troytown at Navan on his most recent start.
