Godolphin were expected to win the Betfred Hungerford Stakes but it was not favourite Home Of The Brave who obliged but, to the relief of beleaguered bookmakers, the outsider of the field Richard Pankhurst.
John Gosden, fresh from providing Frankie Dettori with his 3,000th winner at Newmarket on Friday evening, was adding a sixth Hungerford to his career record with the help of another trusted lieutenant Rab Havlin.
