Reverting to plan A puts sprint star Brando back in the July Cup picture

Trying to teach an old dog new tricks rarely works out and reverting to what Brando does best paid off as the seven-year-old landed the clash of the Group 1 winners.

The son of Pivotal has been one of the very best sprinters around in recent seasons, notably landing the Ayr Gold Cup and Prix Maurice de Gheest for owner Angie Bailey in come-from-behind style.

And he left a modest effort in last month's Duke Of York Stakes firmly behind with a trademark last-to-first defeat of Donjuan Triumphant by a length and three-quarters in this £27,000 conditions event under Tom Eaves.
