Richard Hannon had landed the past two runnings of the mile novice contest run in memory of late owner Dorothy Mort and he made it a hat-trick after the well-backed Regimented narrowly outpointed stablemate Sallab.

Although Hannon insisted he could not separate the pair beforehand, all the money in the ring was for Regimented (11-8 from 7-4) and Hollie Doyle delivered the youngster with a well-timed run down the centre of the course to win by a neck.

Hannon said: “They've run this race for three seasons and I've now won every running. I didn't mind which one of ours landed the spoils as I really wanted to win it again as Dorothy, along with her husband David, were really good to me.
