Faylaq completed his transformation from an ugly duckling to a swan as the son of Dubawi out of the Arc and King George winner Danedream glided home at Newmarket to have connections looking onwards and upwards.

Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's colt had plenty to live up to from the moment the gavel fell at 1.5 million guineas at the Tattersalls October Book 1 Sale down the road in Newmarket two years ago.

Backers who took the long odds-on never had a moment's worry in the 1m4f handicap as trainer William Haggas maintained his hot run of form this month, with a double on the day moving him on to 29 winners, the joint second best monthly score in his career behind the 36 he bagged in September 2016.
