Red-letter day for ambitious owner Stedman as he records double

Forward-thinking owner Chris Stedman has decided to divide his racing interests between France and Britain and, having been educated with two runs across the Channel, the owner’s Katpoli made a winning start to his career in Britain in the 2m juvenile hurdle.

Stedman, perhaps best known for his smart chaser Vino Griego, has close to 15 horses in training in France and a similar number in Britain, and was suitably impressed with Katpoli’s effort.

"We weren't sure what to expect and I'm really pleased with today," said Stedman. "It was a pleasant surprise he did it so well."
