A horse who can run Muntahaa close in a handicap must be pretty special – not that Andrew Balding's yard needed convincing of Duretto's quality.

He was beaten a short head by last week's stylish Ebor winner in a handicap here in 2016 and delighted his stable by going one place better in the same race – now a Listed event – two years on.

The six-year-old, who also scored in Listed company at Chester last autumn, took his earnings to just short of £200,000 and is enormously popular at Kingsclere.
