The David Pipe-trained Ramses De Teillee was cut to a general 8-1 (from 14) for the Coral Welsh Grand National – to share favouritism with Ladbrokes Trophy winner Sizing Tennessee – after cruising home to win the Welsh National trial.

Sent off the 2-1 market leader, the six-year-old more than justified the pre-race positivity with a convincing display, recording his third straight win over course and distance.

The turning point of the race occurred after the striking grey made a fantastic leap over the third-last fence, taking advantage of a stumble from Ami Desbois, to seize the initiative under jockey David Noonan, who paid tribute to the performance.
