Atty Persse will be targeted at the Racing Post Trophy after further enhancing Frankel’s considerable reputation as a first-season sire with a highly encouraging debut success in the mile maiden.

Roger Charlton had to settle for second in the Lowther Stakes with Fair Eva, the first of his Frankel runners to be tested in Group company, but that filly is still to the fore in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas betting and Atty Persse also has the makings of a top-class three-year-old.

After the colt carried the Bjorn Nielsen colours associated with the race's 2010 winner Masked Marvel, the subsequent St Leger winner, to a length-and-three-quarter defeat of Hamada, the trainer said: "We don’t overdo them at home but he’s done some routine work and always shown class. He’s a lovely mover with a good temperament and I hope he makes up into a Racing Post Trophy horse.
