The well-related Dal Horrisgle proved to be the star of the show at Haydock when he turned the feature 1m2½f handicap into a one-horse show and provided the middle leg of a treble for jockey James Doyle.

Being a half-brother to Listed winner Dal Harraild, who was also trained by William Haggas before switching to race in Australia, the three-year-old is now three wins from four starts and is definitely heading in the right direction.

His rider told Racing TV: “He is certainly a likeable type and this was definitely a step forward. He is going to improve for stepping up in trip again and as it turned out I ended up hitting the front on him way too soon. He pricked his ears a bit but he knuckled down well when I gave him a tap.”
